A COLLECTION OF PAINTINGS BY
JOHNI BLEU, MAGGIE MACDONALD
AND LUCY BOLAND.
CELEBRATE SPRING WITH US AT THE INAUGURAL EXHIBITION HOSTED BY INTERNAL AFFAIRS ART GALLERY.
In Bloom is a collaborative effort of three talented Spartanburg painters encouraging each other’s artistic offering to their community. Every show that Maggie, Bleu and Lucy have put together celebrate a theme, and In Bloom celebrates all the exuberance and beauty of the new life we enjoy with the coming of Spring.
Working in service of a common theme is always exciting, the artists are able to demonstrate their unique style while producing a cohesive body of work. It is such a pleasure to see each artist’s concept come alive through their individual use of color, shape, and composition.
These artists are excited to share their offerings and invite you to enter into their world and consider how original artworks can have a place in your life. Enjoy and celebrate with us!

JOHNI BLEU
Focusing on a contemporary style of figures and portraits, I have a tendency to gravitate towards vibrant colors used in unconventional ways. This is a reminder to disconnect from the influences of society and what is typically expected. I feel drawn to colors that are influenced by nature and my southern roots while pushing the boundaries of race, religion, and sex. My art is a language all its own.
LUCY BOLAND
South Carolina based artist, Lucy Boland describes her work as her passion, an honest commitment to a learning process through visual understanding and peaceful protest. Intuitive and energetic in nature, Lucy emboldens a certain vulnerability that connects her and her audience through the human experience.
MAGGIE MACDONALD
Maggie Macdonald is an artist living and working in the Upstate of South Carolina. She creates large-scale abstract art inspired by the movement of the ocean and by the intricacies of human interaction. Her pieces, often accompanied by poetic or literary elements, share the stories of her current reality; of what it is to be human.
